What is the TARGIT Decision Suite?

The TARGIT Decision Suite is a business intelligence platform from the Danish manufacturer TARGIT from Aalborg. It combines reporting, dashboards, self-service analytics, data discovery and automated report distribution in a single solution.

TARGIT was founded in 1986 and has been part of the European software group Forterro since 2025. Around 1,000 medium-sized companies use the platform, primarily in manufacturing, retail and industry.

The benefits of using TARGIT

What does TARGIT do? How is it different from other BI tools?

TARGIT is designed for business units that want to carry out their own analyses. They do not need any programming skills or additional tools to do so.

Self-service without DAX

Reports and dashboards are created using drag-and-drop. At the chemical trading firm DruckChemie, users were able to work independently after just two days of training.

All in one platform

Reporting, dashboards, ad hoc analyses and report distribution are all carried out within a single system. This saves on licences, interfaces and training costs.

Alerts built in

TARGIT monitors your KPIs and automatically reports any deviations.

Fast, even with large amounts of data

TARGIT uses Microsoft Analysis Services (Multidimensional, Tabular, Azure) or its own TARGIT InMemory Engine.
Data sovereignty

European BI software: If your data must remain within the EU

TARGIT is one of the few established BI platforms based in the EU. The company, its development team and support services are based in Denmark, and the platform can run entirely in your own data centre if you wish.

Many companies need to be able to demonstrate where their data is stored. Customers, auditors or internal policies require that financial, HR and production data must not leave the EU. Many large BI platforms, however, rely on cloud services from US providers.

What TARGIT brings to the table:

European manufacturer

TARGIT is based in Aalborg and is subject to EU law, including the GDPR.

European owners

TARGIT has been part of the European software group Forterro since 2025.

Fully on-premises

Servers, data warehouses and analytics are hosted in your data centre or with an EU-based hosting provider of your choice.

Freedom to choose the operating model

On-premises, in the cloud or a hybrid solution – you decide where your data is stored and can switch later.

Good to know: The variant TARGIT Cloud runs on Microsoft Azure. If you require a cloud solution with guaranteed data storage within the EU, we will clarify the region and the terms of the contract with you before we begin.

Data integration

Which data sources does it integrate with? TARGIT, then?

TARGIT is ERP-independent and consolidates data from your source systems into a single data warehouse.

Microsoft Dynamics

Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Business Central, NAV, AX

Other ERP systems

SAP, Sage, proALPHA, DATEV

Further sources

CRM systems, SQL databases, Excel and CSV, REST APIs

Take DruckChemie as an example: Nine clients and 50 years’ worth of data in a data warehouse.

TARGIT BIA: Up and running with Microsoft Dynamics in just a few weeks

TARGIT BIA comes with over 50 pre-built analyses for Microsoft Dynamics. It typically takes four to eight weeks to reach a live pilot.

We use the Gap-Fit approach for this: we check the existing content against your requirements and only make adjustments where there are gaps.

Take Beckhoff Automation, for example:

860 users, 40 clients in 27 countries, data updated approximately every 30 minutes.

Available for Business Central, NAV 2009–2018, Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and AX 2009–2012. We build bespoke data warehouses for SAP, Sage, proALPHA and DATEV.

Operating models

On-premises, cloud or hybrid: How is TARGIT operated?

TARGIT offers you a choice of three operating models. Which one is right for you depends on your data protection requirements and your IT organisation.

Operating model Where is the data stored? Suitable for
On-Premises Where is the data stored? In your own data centre or with a hosting provider of your choice Suitable for Strict data protection and sovereignty requirements
TARGIT Cloud Where is the data stored? Hosted on Microsoft Azure, operated by the manufacturer Suitable for Minimal in-house IT operations, automatic updates
Hybrid Where is the data stored? Partly on-premises, partly in the cloud Suitable for Phased migration or mixed requirements

Your teams can access the system in three ways: the desktop client, the browser with TARGIT Anywhere, and the mobile app, which also works offline.

Platform comparison

TARGIT or Power BI: Which is better?

Which platform is best suited depends on your users, your IT strategy and your data architecture. As a Microsoft Solutions Partner and TARGIT Partner, we can advise you on both.

TARGIT is a better fit if …

  • many specialist users without knowledge of DAX are expected to carry out the analysis themselves.
  • Data should remain within the organisation’s own data centre or with a European provider.
  • Alerts and report distribution without the need for additional tools are required.
  • You want an all-in-one platform rather than several separate services.

Power BI is a better fit if …

  • There are DAX-savvy power users in-house.
  • You are using or planning to use Microsoft Fabric.
  • The focus is on Microsoft 365 and Teams.
  • You are already well established within the Microsoft ecosystem.

Both can also be operated in parallel. In both cases, the basis is a data warehouse.
